It may be a bit on the pricey side, but you’d be hard pressed not to want to cruise around in James Bond’s very own Aston Martin DB5.  And, assuming money is no object of course, you can very soon.

That’s because in October the 1964 DB5 featured in Thunderball and Goldfinger is going up for auction in Battersea Park in London.

What’s more, its still got the toys, including tyre shredders, smoke machine, revolving number plates and machine guns (while details are scant, I doubt these are fully operational, but still…).

And as for the price – well, it’s an auction so who knows, you might get a bargain!  You can dream anyway…

Sometimes a gadget comes out that makes you think “Why wasn’t that invented a hundred years ago?!” In this case it pretty much was, albeit not as an iPhone accessory.  What you’re looking at is the iVictrola – essentially a gramophone attachment for your iPhone or iPod Touch.

You can thank New York designer Matt Richmond for this stroke of genius – or not, your call.  Either way what we have here is a wonderful looking device which amplifies your music without electricity (valves or otherwise) – simply pop your iPhone into the walnut base and the music from it’s speaker is amplified by bouncing through the enormous horn.

I like it – if only because it just prompted me to use the words ‘enormous horn’…

If you’ve ever thought that traditional playing cards with all their fleur-de-lys and fussy designs are a bit old hat in this brave new world it appears you’re not alone.

Available from US design shop Canoe, it apparently “safely stores this essential personal care item with characteristic German efficiency”.  So there you go.

Well it’s that time of year again, and although I haven’t seen many April Fools today Firebox came up with a few good fake products on their website…

Fancy a weather-sensing, wi-fi enabled clothes peg which sends alerts to your iPhone about impending rain?  How about the Adult Naughty Step – updating the childish disciplinary technique for misbehaving grown-ups?  Or perhaps the DIY Carbon Freezing Kit is more your cup of tea, allowing you to “do a Han Solo” and wake up 5-30 years in the future.

My favourite though is this Family Slanket – with 10 armholes and able to accommodate 2 adults, 3 kids and a dog.  It’s even available in faux Burberry!  The thing is, it may well be a joke but someone somewhere is going to start making these…

Happy April Fools Day!

Here’s a nice casual trilby for when the sun decides to make an appearance.  If you’re going to be a “hat man” I think it’s wise to go somewhat understated (unless, you know, it’s a costume thing!) and this one fits the bill perfectly.

Although it’s only a concept at the moment, this beauty is set to become the Veyron’s four-door big brother.  Initial suggestions claim that it will be no less exciting than it’s record-breaking sibling – and no less expensive either.

Powered by the same 8.0-litre W-16 engine as the Veyron, but with dual superchargers instead of four turbos, and the engine mounted up front this time, the Galibier is certainly going to be no slouch in the performance department.  Transmission is said to be an 8 speed automatic box rather than the 7 speed DSG employed by it’s “little” bro.

Style wise Bugatti have gone all out, with an interior to put the most exquisite of private jets to shame and a spine feature running right down the centre of the car from nose to tail.  LED lighting and no less than 8 tailpipes finish off the exterior.

The big question is will they actually put it into production, but either way you can feast your eyes on all the photos over at autoblog.

I realise we’re a bit facial hair obsessed of late, but if you’re on a roll you’re on a roll, and how can you fail with a dog sporting a moustache?

This is actually a rubber ball with the moustache attached – so when your dog picks it up in his mouth he looks like Super Mario* (insert your favourite moustachio’d icon here).

Unfortunately there is only one style – I think they’re missing a trick by not extending the range to include at least The Shogun Warrior, The Burt Reynolds, The Gay Biker, and dare I say it even The Hitler.  Still, playing fetch will never be the same again!
